Is it possible that auto insurance for SUV is more affordable?

As you in all probability know, quite a few factors are used by insurance companies so they can calculate insurance premiums. Unquestionably , the model and make of your car plays a huge role. And rightly so. It would not be fair if all vehicles need the same amount of insurance cover.
It really is common-sense to assume that sport and exotic cars can be more expensive to insure. Bigger motors produce more horse power and as far as your insurance carrier is concerned, it means higher insurance premiums.
Effectively, there are actually a couple of main reasons, both relevant to the kind of motorists who commonly own such cars. SUVs are generally family vehicles. Its only natural for parents who are driving their young children to school or basketball practice to be more careful on the road. They tend not to drive during the night or in poor weather conditions. What this means, obviously, is that SUVs have better "accident history" than other cars. Its much more likely that a young motorist will cause a crash with a small and less powerful car, than a mom driving an SUV on her way to the mall.
Insurers pay a great deal of attention to these statistics. If a certain model and make has a good accident history, than its owners will reap the benefits of lower insurance premiums.
Another reason why SUVs are cheaper to insure is safety. Many family vehicles are loaded with safety features, which is considered one of their main selling factors.
A good arguing point here is that SUVs are not exactly the most ecologically friendly vehicles out there. It will not be a complete surprise if in the near future insurance providers start offering cheap rates to "greener" cars. For now, owning a SUV means that you have a better chance of finding affordable auto insurance.
